WATCH: Kendrick Lamar includes African references in new Black Panther music video

Cape Town – Kendrick Lamar produced the soundtrack for the upcoming superhero flick Black Panther and it includes several South African artists.

The first single from the soundtrack, titled All the Stars, features Grammy nominated artist Sza and the video was released on Tuesday night.

The video starts off by zooming into the African continent which is lit up with lights and includes Kendrick surrounded by children who are doing pantsula dance moves in converse sneakers while Sza is in an intergalactic setting dancing in the stars.

Black Panther – the title character of the film – originates from a fictional kingdom called Wakanda and it was revealed recently that the language spoken there is Xhosa. John and Atandwa Kani star in the film alongside Connie Chiume.

If you look behind Kendrick in the opening scenes of the video, you’ll see Stayfly Thrash who we interviewed last year when he visited Cape Town.
