We’re going to Coachella 2018 and these are the 13 acts we're amped to watch live!

Cape Town – Channel24 will be attending one of the biggest festivals in the world, Coachella from 13 until 15 April 2018 (which is the first weekend of the two-weekend long event).

The epic live music experience will take place in Indio, California and it is being headlined by Beyoncé, The Weeknd and Eminem.

We’re so excited to see as many of the acts as possible but we have put together a list of performances we do not want to miss.

HERE ARE THE 13 ACTS WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE AT COACHELLA 2018 (in no specific order):

1. Beyoncé

The queen of pop music has been gearing up for this performance for quite some time and said: “44 days until Coachella!! Vegan Time!!” a few weeks ago on her Instagram along with a photo from rehearsal, so we know that it’s going to a memorable one. After her performance – that we cannot wait to see – at Coachella, Bey will go back on tour with her rapper husband, Jay-Z.

2. Sza

Grammy nominated singer, Sza has said that she might quit music soon, so her performance at Coachella could be one of the last times we see her on stage singing, making it a must-see set. Let’s hope she changes her mind and keeps giving us bangers like The Weekend, for many years to come.

3. St Vincent

Annie Clark, who is better known by her alias St Vincent, released her album Masseduction last year and its one of her best. With catchy riffs and big choruses, it’s definitely the type of thing that will get the crowd singing along at the festival.

HERE’S ONE OF THE SINGLES FROM THE ALBUM, LOS AGELESS PERFORMED LIVE:

4. Daniel Caeser

While most of the acts on this list will get us hyped up and dancing; Daniel will get us slow dancing and kicking back to some mellow music. Because at some point we’ll want to sit down and grab a cold drink while the California hot sun beats down on us.

HERE'S ONE OF HIS COOLEST SONGS, BEST PART:

5. Black Coffee

We definitely have to go see South Africa’s own Black Coffee. There’s nothing quite like having a piece of home with you on the otherside of the world and when one of the DJ’s signature tunes hits we can’t wait to close our eyes and be transported to the Mother City for a few minutes.

6. Wizkid

Wizkid, like Black Coffee, has worked with some of the biggest artists in the world but always manages to stay true to his fans in Africa. We can’t wait to see him bring his high energy act to the Coachella stage.

HERE’S ONE OF HIS BIGGEST TRACKS COME CLOSER FEATURING DRAKE:

7. Tank and the Bangas

Tank and Bangas performed recently in South Africa at The Cape Town International Jazz Festival and blew us away with their innovative style and mix of genres that make up their sound.

HERE’S THEIR NPR TINY DESK CONCERT WHICH REALLY CAPTURES THEIR ENERGY:

8. Goldfish

One of South Africa’s most popular bands, Goldfish (made up of friends Dominic Peters, David Poole) have been touring the world for years but they still manage to do something different everytime they play, that’s why we’re so excited to see them at The Do LaB Stage, Coachella’s electronic music epicentre.

HERE'S ONE OF THEIR MOST PLAYED SONGS, ONE MILLION VIEWS:

9. Haim

Haim have been one of our favourite bands for the past few years. If you haven’t heard them before it sort of like if Stevie Nicks and Patti Smith had a musical baby and it was into trying new things. Their latest album Something to Tell You was released in 2017 and quickly became one of our most played. We can’t wait to see what Danielle, Este and Alana bring to the Coachella stage.

10. Portugal. the Man

This genre-bending band from America played two shows in South Africa two years ago and impressed many people with their epic live show that is pretty much designed for large crowds who are ready to party. So, we can’t wait to see them at Coachella and maybe find out more about the Cape Town coliseums they mention in their song, Rich Man.

11. Tash Sultana

Tash Sultana is an Australian singer-songwriter who is basically her own one-woman band; playing multiple instruments and working hard to go from being a street busker to a multiple platinum selling artist. Watching her perform is hypnotic and she’s definitely one of the reasons we can’t wait for Coachella.

12. 6lack

American singer, songwriter, and rapper, 6lack is from Atlanta, Georgia and brings a new fresh approach to making music and visuals. His most popular song is called Prblms and we love it but one of the performances that really made us excited to see him live was his version of Erykah Badu’s On & On for Australian radio show, Like A Version.

WATCH THAT PERFORMANCE HERE:

13. Børns

Børns makes electronic pop music that will get stuck in your head for days and we love him for it. He’s like that effortlessly cool guy at a party that just makes everything seem easy. We can’t wait to see what he does on a stage this big.
