Cape Town - A woman has been told she must stop playing Whitney Houston songs – or she’ll be heading to jail!
Kirsten May Partington (33) has reportedly been upsetting her downstairs neighbours for the past eight years, by constantly playing her tunes on full blast.
According to Plymouth Herald, in August 2017 Kirsten was found guilty of 11 counts of failing to comply with a noise notice. This is after her downstairs neighbour filled several complaints against her.
Kirsten stopped playing her music loudly, but after the short-lived period of peace, she started it up again in September.
During her appearance at the magistrates’ court in Plymouth on Tuesday she was given a Criminal Behaviour Order and told she could face prison if she doesn’t stop being a nuisance.
According to Metro UK, at one stage Kirsten was allegedly playing music so loudly it woke up the neighbour and "gave her palpitations".
Noise recording equipment placed by the council, as well as the neighbour’s recordings of the music, confirmed the loudness of the tunes, reports Smooth Radio.
She played songs by Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, Whitney Houston, Sam Smith and Adele. On one visit police seized Kirsten’s television and DVD player. In court, she claimed she didn’t intentionally play music loudly stating that she would fall asleep on the sofa with the TV on due to medication.
The magistrates told her this was her last chance and she risks stiffer penalties if she doesn’t change her ways. She was fined £1 000 (R17 000) by the court, ordered to pay £1 000 (R17 000) court costs and a victim surcharge of £100 (R1 700).
Kirsten was further told that if she carried on breaching her order, there was "the possibility of custody", reports Smooth Radio, which would mean jail time for Kirsten.
