UPDATE: 11 March - 07:52

The organisers of the two festivals, Goldenvoice have confirmed that the events will be moved to October.

According to Variety the Coachella Festival, as well as the Stagecoach Music Festival, have been postponed due to fears over the coronavirus outbreak.

According to Health24, the virus can spread quickly in large gatherings, so it would make sense to avoid an event where tens of thousands of attendees are expected to dance, sweat and sleep in close camping quarters.

The festival, which has the same line-up over two weekends, was set to take place between 10-12 April and again between 17-19 April. The scheduled headliners were Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean. South African DJ Black Coffee is also listed as a performer at the prestigious event. Previous headliners have included Beyoncé and Ariana Grande.

Stagecoach, one of the nation's biggest annual country music festivals, was to follow on the same grounds in Indio 24-26 April, with Carrie Underwood, Eric Church and Thomas Rhett as headliners.

Event organisers, Goldenvoice, are reportedly currently informing agents and deducing who is available on consecutive weekends starting on 9 October.

It should be added that this is not yet confirmed as the well-established company haven't released a statement.

This report follows the announcement that South by Southwest is officially off for 2020 and various other conferences and festivals – such as Ultra – is being cancelled or postponed until later in the year.

Miami's Winter Music Conference was also called off, and Madonna also cancelled her upcoming shows in Paris.
