Cape Town – The second royal baby is here and while the world watches, listens and waits in anticipation to meet the new princess we can’t forget about the little guy that first made headlines – Prince George.

Cute as a button, the 1-year-old- is just a couple months away from his second birthday (22July) and while he is soon to become a big brother we take a look back to his special day.

Here’s a timeline of Prince George's very own birth to the day he becomes a big brother:

July 2013

A prince was born on 22 July and became third in line for the throne, a mere 2 days later the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took him home.

His name was released shortly after.


A short week after the little Prince’s name was unveiled, Prince Charles revealed the British family had nicknamed the baby Prince “Georgie”.

August 2013

Prince George’s god parents were announced a month before christening. He has 7 godparents, who were chosen individually buy Prince William and Kate Middleton.

October 2013

Prince George was christened in a private ceremony in the 16th century St James's Palace in London.
