Los Angeles - It has been reported that Angelina Jolie plans to go ahead with surgery to remove her ovaries.
According to People magazine, the UN ambassador and Oscar winner is planning to go under the knife yet again to remove her ovaries after learning that she faces a 50% chance of contracting ovarian cancer.
The actress has been making headlines around the world for voluntarily undergoing a double mastectomy to reduce her risk of contracting breast cancer later in life, but it seems that the mother-of-six isn't finished yet.
Though the 37-year-old mother of six will have to wait a few years to have this done.
Can trigger early menopause
Doctors recommend that patients only undergo this kind of surgery after the age of 40, or once a woman has finished having children and warns that it can trigger early menopause.
Angelina revealed in a New York Times op-ed piece entitled "My Medical Choice" that she had both her breasts removed to reduce her chances of breast cancer after doctors discovered she carried the "faulty" BRCA1 gene.
Angelina wrote: "My doctors estimated that I had an 87% risk of breast cancer and a 50% risk of ovarian cancer, although the risk is different in the case of each woman."
Angelina now only has a 5% chance of developing breast cancer and she admitted her and fiancé Brad Pitt's six kids - Maddox, 11, Pax, nine, Zahara, eight, Shiloh, six, and four-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - were a big motivation for her to have the surgery because she wants to see them all grow up
The Salt actress lost her mother Marcheline Bertrand to ovarian cancer in 2007 and so decided to undergo the surgery, despite being healthy.
