London - A British bishop has apologised for making offensive comments about the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton - saying he gives their marriage about "seven years".
Bishop Pete Broadbent says he has conveyed his sincere regrets to the couple and to Prince Charles for comments he made on Twitter and Facebook.
The bishop of Willesden - an area in northwest London - apologised on Monday after making the "seven years" crack and other harsh comments about the royal family. He also said he was planning to make a "republican day trip to France" on the day of the royal nuptials.
Broadbent says he made a major error in the tone and content of his comments about the wedding plans. He says he wishes the couple a long, happy marriage.
