Prince Harry passes with 'flying colours'

London - Britain's Prince Harry has qualified as an Apache Aircraft Commander.

The 28-year-old royal - who is currently dating socialite Cressida Bonas - underwent months of training to prepare for the test, which involved a six-hour flying assessment dealing with simulated aircraft emergencies.

Prince Harry's Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Tom de la Rue said: “This is a tremendous achievement for Captain Wales who passed with flying colours.

“I am delighted that his new status as a qualified Apache Aircraft Commander and Co-Pilot Gunner places him at the very top of his profession.”

Taste of blood

Harry - who serves with the 3 Regiment Army Air Corps and is known as Captain Wales in the military - spent 20 weeks serving in Afghanistan last year and admitted the adrenalin would kick in as soon as he and fellow soldiers got the call to attack the enemy.

He said: “As soon as we get a shout, whatever it is, we all run to the aircraft, and at that point you have the taste of blood in your mouth.

“I'm always down here wishing for the phone to go because then we're in amongst it.”
