Cape Town – Prince William and Duchess Catherine have taken their new born daughter home.

The royal couple on Saturday welcomed a baby girl - who will be fourth in line to the throne - and have now taken her home.

Prince William has been at his wife’s side every step of the way but left her for a short while to fetch their son to meet his baby sister.

Moments after driving himself to the Kensington Palace, Prince William returned with the 21-month-old.

After his first royal wave the Duke and Prince of Cambridge entered the hospital. (See pics here)

Later the royals posed on the now iconic steps of the Lindo wing of St. Mary's Hospital with their new born daughter.

The family was greeted by a wave of photographers and on-lookers, who had been waiting for days to catch a glimpse of the new royal baby.

Their Royal Highness extended their thanks to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their accommodating care as well as to all the warm wishes received by the public.
