5FM's Grant Nash off to Nepal

Cape Town – Grant Nash announced on his 5FM show with Anele Mdoda on Thursday that he had taken the decision to leave the station in November 2011 already.

Following a statement released by 5FM on Thursday, radio jock Grant Nash revealed that he will be going to Nepal after he leaves the station.

"One of the most difficult days of my life was when I had to tell Anele that I was leaving the show and moving to Nepal."

Nash is well-known as a practising vegan as well as a Buddhist and it is believed he is moving to the Asian country in order to continue practising his beliefs.

"The fact that I have had the privilege of being in the same line-up with the likes of Fresh, Gareth (Cliff) and Sasha is enough for me, I can now keep quiet for the rest of my life," he said in reference to the Buddhist act of remaining silent for long periods of time.

'MBA in radio'

Anele added: "Being in the same line-up with the people we have worked with is like having an MBA in radio."

Meanwhile, the social networks were abuzz with well wishes for the two with many of their celebrity friends tweeting them.

"I say goodbye at end of March. All best to @Anele taking slot," tweeted Mark Pilgrim who is set to be replaced by Anele at Highveld 94.7.

Sasha Martinengo, who is also leaving the station, wrote on Grant’s Twitter page: "Wish you well my friend."

Swimmer Cameron van der Burgh also jumped on board the well-wisher wagon when he tweeted: "Congrats @Anele for getting a drive time gig! That's like getting an Olympic gold." Anele replied: "I want one from you!!!” in reference to the Olympics taking place later this year.
