Cape Town - Olympian and double amputee Oscar Pistorius has not opened a case of intimidation or defamation, according to the Hawks.
This comes after The Star newspaper reported on Wednesday that a case of intimidation has been opened against Oscar Pistorius by former soccer player Marc Batchelor.
According to the article, the troubles started when Pistorius returned from the London Olympic games in September and found out his girlfriend had cheated on him with Batchelor's friend, coal mining millionaire and Clifton Shores producer Quinton van der Burgh.
During an event at Kyalami racetrack in September, which Van der Burgh and Pistorius both attended, Pistorius reportedly confronted Van der Burgh in the VIP room about the situation.
The Star reports that Pistorius approached Van der Burgh and swore at him about his relationship with an unnamed 18-year-old woman, while Pistorius attended the Olympics in London.
'Break his legs'
Van der Burgh, who attended the event with numerous businessmen who invest with his companies, is said to be embarrassed by what unfolded at the event. It was not long after that Van der Burgh laid a charge of intimidation against Pistorius, reports The Star.
The situation intensified after Van der Burgh started receiving threatening SMSes from Pistorius. It was at this stage that Batchelor got involved after hearing about the SMSes. Batchelor then started contacting Pistorius, which led to Pistorius telling Bacthelor that he "would break his legs".
"Pistorius hasn't opened a case with us [the Hawks]," spokesperson Captain Paul Ramaloko told SAPA on Wednesday.
"I can confirm that he has had some challenges and that he came to the Johannesburg organised crime unit on Wednesday and we managed to resolve the situation."
Meanwhile, Batchelor has denied that he made any threats towards Pistorius. "No, there's nothing like that. I don't even know the oke. I met him for the first time today," he told The Star.
'Way with women'
Pistorius said that he would not like to speak out about the matter. Van der Burgh also declined to comment, only mentioning that there were charges of defamation involved.
"I deal with big projects so I need to keep a low profile," Van der Burgh said.
Van der Burgh also admitted that he fears for his life and was determined to state the fact that the unnamed woman was not Pistorius' girlfriend.
City Press has also previously reported on Pistorius' ex girlfriend Samantha Taylor, who claimed that Pistorius "has a way with women".
The pair were still together in September, making an appearance on Top Billing during that time.
News of their split spread after Pistorius arrived at the SA Sports Awards with FHM model Reeva Steenkamp.
Steenkamp assured City Press reporters that they were "just friends".
