Hijackers shoot DJ’s wife

Johannesburg – The wife of a well-known DJ has been admitted to hospital with two bullet wounds after she was shot by hijackers.

Zina Rotherham, the wife of Jacaranda FM DJ Paul Rotherham, managed to drive away after hijackers fired at her near the Gautrain's Marlboro station at 17:20 on Wednesday, reported Beeld.

She had just dropped off a friend and was looking for a turnoff when the hijacker fired two shots through her windscreen.

She was hit in the abdomen and her left hand, but drove away and phoned her husband, who alerted the local emergency services. They raced to the Engen garage where she had parked her car and was being helped by garage staff.

She was taken to the Sunninghill hospital, where surgeons removed the bullet from her abdomen. She was to undergo a delicate operation to remove the bullet in her left hand.

The DJ did not want to comment on his wife's ordeal but confirmed on Facebook that his wife was in a stable condition in hospital.
