Kenny Kunene dumps politics for sushi

Johannesburg - Sushi King Kenny Kunene has gone back to his old ways, City Press reports.

He has dumped politics for nyotaimori – the Japanese term for eating sushi off a naked woman’s body.

“Fuck politics! This is what I do full-time now,” Kunene shouted at the microphone at his birthday party on Friday night at the exclusive Taboo nightclub in Sandton.

The former ZAR nightclub owner arrived at the party in his silver Rolls-Royce with two models on his arm. At his 40th birthday in 2010, Kunene caused an outcry after eating sushi off a model clad only in her underwear.

At his 44th birthday bash on Friday, he went one step further by eating off two completely naked models. Shocked guests filmed every moment on their smartphones, standing on chairs and tables to get the best view.

“Every single man in here wishes they could eat sushi off a naked woman,” Kunene told the crowd.

During the party, he invited his guests to join him eating sushi off the naked models. They declined to reveal their names to City Press. His birthday cake was modelled on a naked woman’s behind.

Kunene’s daughter Mpho helped organise the high-profile bash, which featured a performance by pop star Kelly Khumalo.

The Moët flowed until the early hours of the morning, but only in the club’s VIP section. Among the guests were Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) chief whip Floyd Shivambu, and fellow EFF member and actor Fana Mokoena.

Mining tycoon and motivational speaker Gayton McKenzie – Kunene’s close friend and former leader of the defunct Patriotic Alliance, which failed miserably in May’s general elections – was nowhere to be seen.

The models lay on tables for more than 30 minutes, with only roses and sushi covering their nipples and private parts. The pair appeared to be shivering and wore masks throughout the night.

One of them spoke to City Press, identifying herself only as Alice. She said she was from Bloemfontein and had been “doing this” for the past three years.

The 22-year-old declined to reveal how much she was being paid. “I’m a model – I love what I do,” she said. “We are getting paid enough.”

Rumours were rife that Kunene’s old friend, EFF leader Julius Malema, had been spotted at the party, but was trying to keep out of sight downstairs.

Malema denied this yesterday: “I wasn’t at Kenny Kunene’s party. I wasn’t invited. I’m in Polokwane as we speak. “I love parties but, at the moment, I’m on study leave,” he said.

Kunene yesterday declined to reveal how much the party cost him or how much he paid the models to serve as his plates.

“I eat sushi on women because it makes me happy. I love it,” he said. “Some people braai at their parties, but I enjoy doing this at mine. “People can say whatever they want. I don’t care.”
