Johannesburg - There have been two other books written by employees of former president Nelson Mandela, with the apartheid icon's blessing, his daughter Zindzi Mandela said on Tuesday.
"I received numerous media requests to comment on Ms Zelda la Grange's book on her working relationship with my father," Mandela wrote on social networking site Twitter.
"Former protection officer Rory Steyn [One Step Behind Mandela] & Xoliswa Ndoyiya [Ukutya Kwasekhaya] published their stories.
"My father was aware of both these efforts and gave them his blessings. Why would he treat Zelda’s ‘Good Morning Mr Mandela’ any differently?" she asked.
Zindzi said she thought it was premature to comment on La Grange's book because she had not seen it. La Grange was Mandela's assistant for 19 years.
However, she did feel it was imperative in the interim to "focus on the principle and not the individuals involved".
According to Sunday Times, in the book La Grange describes how family in-fighting sidelined Mandela's wife Gra?a Machel and many of his close friends.
La Grange said the exception was Zindzi.
Mandela's eldest daughter Makaziwe Mandela told the newspaper La Grange would have to substantiate her claims against the family or she would be sued.
La Grange told the Sunday Times she had told the truth: "There's not one line that can be contested in the book."
Zindzi continued on Twitter: "It's common knowledge, when Tata was asked how he wished to be remembered, he'd often say that he wants people to decide for themselves."
