Cape Town – Playboy SA is moving away from print with the release of their first fully digital edition in May, reports BizCommunity.
The decision to go digital was made last year July partly because "digital offers a more private readership experience" in a country where people still have reservations about buying an adult magazine publicly, said managing editor Tanya Goodman.
The US print edition of Playboy will still be imported and made available in a few select stores from the fourth quarter of the year while also distributing a special series of back copy collections from June onwards.
Editor-in-chief Charl du Plessis told BizCommunity: "The shift in strategy we introduced in the second half of last year is now bearing fruit.
"We have shifted from being a single-platform print medium towards a multi-platform vehicle offering the full 360 experience."
