Cape Town – Russell Brand announced on Monday that he will be bringing his stand-up comedy show Messiah Complex to South Africa.
The British comedian announced that he's launching a world comedy tour focusing on Che Guevara, Gandhi, Malcolm X and Jesus Christ.
Brand says the show examines "the importance of heroes in this age of atheistic disposability".
Brand will perform in Cape Town on 16 November 2013 at the Cape Town Convention Centre and in Johannesburg on 17 November 2013 at the ZA Teatro.
The 38-year-old says he plans to perform in theatres as well as "prisons, drug rehabs ... nationalist organisations, mosques, foreclosed houses, protest sites, synagogues and in people's private homes".
The Messiah Complex tour is set to begin on 15 August in Abu Dhabi and wrap up on 9 December in Iceland.
