SA violinist found dead at family home

Johannesburg - South African violinist Annake de Villiers was found dead in her family farmhouse near Steynsrus on Tuesday, Free State police said.

Captain Rulene Kühn said she was found with one gunshot wound to the head at 13:00. She said there was a revolver next to the body.

"Police don't suspect any foul play at this stage," Kühn said.

De Villiers was a member of the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra, the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of South Africa, OFM radio station reported on Tuesday.

De Villiers was the ex-wife of South African singer Jannie Moolman.
