Sun City - Piet Nkambule has won the Shoprite Checkers boerewors competition.
The finals took place at the Valley of the Waves in Sun City on Saturday.
This was Piet's first time in the finals, but he has been participating in the competition for the last 19 years.
The Shoprite Newcastle meat market manager said it took him a while to perfect the right recipe, but even longer to convince the judges that his boerewors is the winner.
"My secret to the best boerewors lies in the special ratio of pork to beef meat I include in my mixture," Piet said.
Upon being pulsed by the media on what his secret recipe is, Piet just smiled mischievously and said: "I can never reveal that secret my friends."
Apart from winning a brand new Toyota Hilux 2.7 Double Cab Raised Body Rider, Piet also walked away with the much sought after 2012 Boerewors Champion crown.
Quinton Rossouw from Gauteng placed third and Mary Makhabela from Mpumalanga placed second.
