While Duchess Meghan has admitted that life in the royal spotlight can be difficult sometimes, she’s also not interested in wanting people to “love” her.

Two weeks after Meghan and Harry’s revealing documentary, the Duchess of Sussex sat down for a one-on-one interview with The Telegraph.

During the interview, the royal revealed she’s not seeking people’s affection and doesn’t want people to love her; she just wants them to be able to hear her.

Meghan also told interviewer Bryony Gordon she only cared about whether people respected her, Cosmopolitan reports.

The duchess went on to open up about distancing herself from royal protocol when on official outings, People reports.

At a royal appearance last month, the 38-year-old rejected a curtsy in favour of a hug.

During a surprise visit at the opening of a new location of the UK’s Luminary Bakery, Meghan spoke candidly about her desire to connect with people on a “real level” during her appearances.

“One of the things I’ve realised since being here is that people have an expectation when I’m coming somewhere, so I’m like, let’s just be really relaxed, keep everyone nice and chilled, because at the end of the day we’re all just women,” she said.

“We all have a story to tell, and I feel honoured that I am getting to hear yours.”

To further prove she’s not concerned with royal protocol, Meghan breached protocol once again by doing the one-on-one interview with The Telegraph – something Queen Elizabeth, Prince William and Kate never do.
