Cape Town - The Duchess of Sussex has made quite a significant change to her engagement ring.

In 2017, Prince Harry popped the big question with a breathtaking sparkler featuring two diamonds from his late mom Princess Diana’s collection and another from Botswana, where the much-loved prince has done a lot of charity work, People reports.

'It’s obviously yellow gold because that’s her favourite. The main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewellery collection to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together," Prince Harry said of the ring.

"It’s beautiful, and he designed it, it’s incredible," Meghan added.

But less than two years later the ring has undergone a transformation.

During Meghan’s first public engagement at Trooping the Colour, eagle-eyed royal fans noticed a beautiful new ring on her left finger, which some thought was a push present from Prince Harry.

But after closer inspection fans concluded that the duchess upgraded her engagement ring.

The ring now has a much thinner diamond encrusted micro-pavé gold band instead of a solid yellow gold one, Town and Country reports.

Although it’s unclear when the 37-year-old made the change, royal followers speculate she adjusted it during the last few months of her pregnancy.

The former Suits actress isn’t the first royal to change a jewellery piece, Mirror reports.

In 2012 Prince William gifted Kate with his mother’s large sapphire earrings which were surrounded by diamonds. The Duchess of Cambridge later redesigned it, changing them from studs into drop earrings.
