Famous funnyman Leon Schuster’s new movie, Frank & Fearless, will be in local theatres from 23 November.

It’s a story with a heart that promises South Africans an authentic Schuster experience, Leon (67) tells YOU.

Although as expected there are many humorous moments, the movie tackles the serious subject of rhino poaching.

“Audiences will enjoy the storyline,” says Themba Ntuli, who plays the character of 10-year-old Fearless. His most recent role was as 11-year-old Bhubesi in Meerkat Maantuig.

“They’ll enjoy the comedy and they’ll certainly love the characters and how each of us is unique and brings in a different element to the film. People will understand the importance of animal conservation and rhino protection. There’s a bit of everything beautiful in this film – even some deep emotions in places.”

Fearless and his friend Sonny Frank, played by Leon, try to pull off a complicated plan to stop rhino poaching.

Themba

The official trailer for the movie, the storyline of which Leon and his director friend Gray Hofmeyr developed over a three-year period, has just been released.

Themba, who’s 27 years old but suffers from a growth hormone deficit that makes him look like a child, says it was challenging at first to play Leon’s buddy.

“It’s my first time working with such a legend, having seen and watched him while growing up. Playing second lead was very challenging but Leon knew what he wanted – both he and Gray Hofmeyr. So they made it quite easy for me.”

Leon has high praise for Themba too. “Themba tugs at the heartstrings with his passion for rhino conservation and he portrays his character excellently.”

Themba says he’s realised over time that he’s able to evoke emotions in audiences but he also enjoys the humorous scenes. “I have humorous elements in my personality which I think people will like,” he says.

He’s confident the movie will make audiences realise the importance of nature conservation and anti-poaching campaigns – and it’s all done with plenty of humour.
