Cape Town - A barrister who arrived first at the scene after Prince Philip’s car flipped onto its side in a crash has revealed more detail about the accident.
Buckingham Palace confirmed on Thursday that Queen Elizabeth’s husband was involved in an accident on Thursday afternoon. They added that he wasn’t injured in the collision.
“The Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a road traffic accident with another vehicle this afternoon. The duke wasn’t injured.”

Philip (97) was driving his Land Rover when he pulled out of a driveway and hit a Kia carrying two women and a baby near the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England.
Roy Warne (75), who witnessed the crash, told The Sun he was driving home with his wife when they came upon the accident.
He says the Land Rover “came across the A149 like a somersault. It was turning on its side over and over. It was frightening to see a powerful car rolling like that.”
Roy says he rushed to the other vehicle first because smoke was coming from the car and he heard a baby screaming.
“Once another chap and I managed to pull the baby out I went to the overturned car. There was one elderly person inside and I tugged at the smashed windscreen and sunroof to try to get the driver out.
“He was lying on his side and his legs were down in the well of the car. I suddenly realised it was Prince Philip.”

He managed to help free the conscious but shocked and shaken royal through the sunroof of his vehicle.
“I looked down and had the prince’s blood on my hands. All I could think is, ‘Thank goodness there wasn’t more.’”
Roy said Philip was able to stand but was obviously shaken.
“He was disorientated and humbled. I believe he was quite sorry about what had happened.”
The two women who were inside the Kia were treated in hospital, one for a suspected broken arm and the other for an injured knee, according to the Daily Mail.
The 10-month-old baby was unharmed and they’ve all since been discharged from the hospital.
Philip was seen by a doctor at his medical facilities on the Sandringham Estate and was given the all clear. But the prince will be closely monitored for the next 48 hours to ensure he has no internal injuries, The Sun reports.
The royal protection officer who was with him was also uninjured.
The queen is reportedly by the duke’s side following the collision.
