After weeks of judges coaching 18 year-old Nosipho Silinda to let loose and enjoy her performances without any success, the singer took her final bow on Sunday after receiving the least number of votes. The singer was apparently not okay to conduct interviews with the media but says she was expecting to go home.

NO FINAL WORDS
After the show, the contestant who leave the singing competition usually join the media in a private room for interviews but this was not the case with Nosipho. After her interview with the Idols team, she was escorted out the room before speaking to the media. Publicity Coordinator Irvin Pooe said the singer was not okay to do interviews then, but would be available today to do so, a disappointing experience for the media who went home without any content.

KNOWING HER FATE

Nosipho tells Move! that she kind-of knew her fate last night. “To be quite honest with you, I was expecting to leave, call it a gut feeling. I just knew and that’s why I did not cry or anything,” she says. Although Nosipho says she was expecting to go home, she somehow also felt she wasn’t okay to handle interviews. “I felt like I needed space and that I would not be able to cope with the questions I would be asked,” says the rising star.

UNHAPPY SUPPORTERS

After presenter and co-producer Proverb made the announcement that Nosipho will no longer be part of the competition; her supporters left the theatre immediately and missed the rest of the show. The supporters dressed in pink and blue stood in the foyer for the remainder of the show.

MR KNOWLES GIVES NOSIPHO A NOD

Matthew Knowles, American producer and father to musicians Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, joined judges Somizi, Unathi and Randal as a guest judge last night. The man was in the country to promote his book, The Emancipation of Slaves Through Music, mentioned Nosipho as one of his favourites contestants in the competition amongst others.
