Cape Town - Lilly Allen has spoken candidly about the “traumatic delivery of her stillborn son”.
In an interview with BBC’s Radio 4, the singer spoke about her new memoir titled My Thoughts Exactly, about the trauma she experienced after delivering a stillborn baby eight years ago.
Lily Allen was six months pregnant when she delivered the child, George, in November 2010 with her now ex-husband Sam Cooper by her side, wrote E! News.
“I went into early labour and they put a stitch in my cervix to try and stop that from developing, and that lasted for the best part of a week,” she said.
The Trigger Bang singer had previously had a miscarriage in 2008 while pregnant by ex Ed Simmons.
Lily has since welcomed two girls, Marnie Rose (5) and Ethel Mary (6), whom she shares with Sam, reports People.
“The stitch broke and I went into full-blown labour and the baby was really, really small,” she recalled.
“And as I was delivering him, the doctors said, ‘There was a pulse and now there no longer is.’ The cord was wrapped around his neck and he was just too small.”
She further said that the little one was so small that he got stuck halfway through delivery and because his skin was sensitive and still developing, they couldn’t use forceps to pull him out, writes Meaww.
“So there was a period of about 12 hours of lying there with him deceased in between my legs, which was incredibly [traumatic],” she said.
“I went into trauma and I don’t think I’ll ever really recover from that.”
