Johannesburg - The royal couple from Monaco are planning a big family getaway – the first their three-year-old twins have ever had.

“We’re going pretty far away,” Prince Albert (60) hinted to People, adding that the break will involve plenty of fun in the sun.

With wife Princess Charlene’s love of water sports, it’s no surprise the getaway will involve plenty of time in the water.

“It’ll be a swimming and marine environment vacation,” he added. “We’ll make one stop along the way because otherwise it’s a pretty long flight for the kids.”

Of course, this begs the question: Could their destination of choice be South Africa?

Benoni-bred Charlene (40) has long promised to bring her pigeon pair back home, but it doesn’t seem likely it’ll happen any time soon.

While Albert wouldn’t reveal exactly where they’re headed, he did say they would be travelling “way west.”

“I’m really looking forward to it because it’s going to be great and I certainly need a break.”

The family holiday has been a long time coming. Prince Albert’s busy schedule has taken its toll lately, and he was forced to cut down on royal engagements for July on doctors’ orders.

While His Serene Highness’ “state of fatigue required a health check”, the results “do not cause any concern” the Pink Palace said in a statement

“I had a cough,” Grace Kelly’s son told People, brushing off the lung infection that had doctors so worried.

“Everything is almost back to normal now,” Prince Albert said.

After being diagnosed, the royal was only allowed to make two appearances, one of which was the annual Red Cross Ball on 27 July – an event that was started by his father 70 years ago, reports Forbes.

The glittering event saw the gorgeous Princess Charlene stun in an elegant Versace floor-length gown.
