Johannesburg - In a move that’ll surely have his legion of fans reaching for the tissues, pop star Ed Sheeran has revealed he’ll quit music once he becomes a dad.

“My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids. I’m going to be like, ‘I don’t really care anymore as I have another life to take care of',” the 26-year-old told the UK’s Daily Star.

The multiple Grammy winner even revealed his ambition is already waning.

“To be honest my ambition is dwindling a little bit because I’ve achieved far more than I thought I ever would. I don’t know what to do next. I feel like when you play a stadium you can’t play any bigger than that because what do you do? Sell 15 million albums? What do you do on your next album?”

He’s previously revealed he wants to start a family by age 30, and with his recent engagement he’s surely well on his way to making that happen.

The Shape of You hit maker went public with his engagement to his girlfriend of two years, Cherry Seaborn (24), over the weekend. However it turns out he’d already secretly popped the question to the pretty brunette last year.

In a cute Instagram post he informed his 18,9 followers, “Got myself a fiancée just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”

The pair met at high school in Framlingham, Suffolk, where Ed says he had a crush on her. After school they went their separate ways, with Cherry enjoying a successful career as a hockey player at university, even competing in the British University Championships.

They only started dating in 2015 when she was working in New York on Wall Street as an advisory consultant for UK accounting firm Deloitte. However after a year or so she transferred to London so she could move in with the ginger-haired star.
