Cape Town - American president Donald Trump was singing Kim Kardashian’s praises during her recent appearance at the White House.

The 38-year-old lawyer-to-be visited the White House on Thursday 13 June and announced a new ride-sharing partnership which will provide former inmates with transport to job interviews as well as to and from work, People reports.

During his opening remarks, President Trump acknowledged that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality star played a huge role in the passing of the First Step Act into law in December, according to CNN.

Trump also revealed that the Kardashian had helped to push his daughter and son-in-law, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, to advocate for the legislation.

"Jared and Ivanka have been unimaginable. They actually pushed it. And I believe they have been pushed a bit by Kim Kardashian," President Trump said. "So thanks, Kim. And Kanye, thanks."

America’s 45th president then went on to introduce Kim, referring to her as a "powerful advocate" for justice reform, Inquisitr reports.

“I hear she’s starting to study law. She’s also one of the most successful people in the entertainment business. Soon she’ll be one of the most successful lawyers.

“But I knew her father and I’ll tell you, she’s got good genes – good genes for everything. She’s been a real friend and her husband has been a real friend of mine. Kim Kardashian West,” Trump said.

When taking to the stage, Kim said that it was an honour for her to be there.

“My whole journey with criminal justice reform started about a year ago when I came to see the president after speaking to Ivanka and Jared who really fought for me to get here,” Kim said.

“And I pled the case of Alice Johnson who the president granted clemency to. After that I really spent so much time going to different prisons ’cause I really had no connection to anybody on the inside and really just felt like, for me, I’m at the place in my life that I wanted to make a difference and just wanted to do the right thing, but I didn’t know how or what to do or even really what was going on,” the mom of four said.

A few hours before visiting the White House, Kim took to Twitter to share a video of herself en route to the event.

“Second Chance Hiring & Re-entry event at the White House today,” Kim wrote.
