YOU magazine recently went live with local actor and musician Clint Brink.

The 39-year-old, known for starring in soapies Backstage, Scandal! and Binnelanders, sat down with us for a virtual interview.

We’ve compiled five new things we learnt about Clint during our live Instagram chat.

He met his wife, model and former Miss Namibia Steffi van Wyk-Brink (28), on Instagram

“I liked a couple of her pictures, she liked a couple of mine back. I sent her a DM and said, ‘Yoh, you’re gorgeous, would you like to chat?’”

Clint and Steffi chatted for about three weeks and when she came to South Africa for a show they met in person for the first time. Three months later they tied the knot.

“And we’re going for four years together now,” Clint added.

If he weren’t an actor he would’ve been a scientist or archaeologist.

“That’s what I wanted to become when I was at school,” he said.

His neighbour Leroy taught him how to play the piano while he was growing up in Wellington in the Western Cape.

“He always wanted to be a musician and I heard him playing and he was super talented. So I spent time at his house and he used to teach me a couple of chords . . . He’s the guy who actually introduced me to music and taught me my way around the piano,” he said.

He’s collaborated with a few local musicians in various musical genres

“I’ve been able to do collaborations with DJ Euphonik, DJ Cleo, RJ Benjamin, ProVerb, Nothende, Amo . . . a lot of people in South Africa.”

He was a member of boyband SoulStone

“SoulStone released the album in 2006 and the first single that came from that was called Now that Your Love Has Gone and that was the first time anyone had seen a South African R&B group at that time get a No 1 hit,” he said.
