The Liberty Radio Awards held this past weekend at the Sandton Convention Centre were a festive event, hosted by Comedian David Kau. One of the first awards for the evening was the Best Commercial Drive Show Award and it went to Masechaba Ndlovu and MoFlava for their drive time show on Metro FM.
Masechaba who was emotional said to Move! “For me it’s never about how many awards you win, but the hearts you speak into.” MoFlava added, “Sometimes you underestimate the power of what you do. This award is a reminder why we do what we do.”
Power FM was nominated for fourteen awards but only took home two. One award was for Best Sports Presenter and the other for Best Station Imaging.
Thuso Motaung and Wilson B Nkosi were one of the few recipients of the Hall of Fame Award, and received a standing ovation. Proud Thuso spoke in SeSotho when receiving his award. He joyfully told Move! that he believes the award was hundred percent well deserved.
Wilson B Nkosi on the other hand made a sarcastic comment when receiving his award, “When you overstay your welcome you will receive awards,” he said. When Move! asked him to elaborate later he said, “That was just tongue and cheek. But I believe if you do the best you can someone will acknowledge that,” he said.
