Playboy bunnies in SA

The first SA Playboy Playmate has officially been chosen! She is Amy Tara Bridger, a local beauty from Joburg.

Born in Krugersdorp, she grew up in Kimberley and currently works as a beauty therapist in Fourways. Says Bridger, “I didn't expect them to pick me because I thought Playboy was for blondes only." See pics of Bridger and read the full interview here.

Describing herself as “a shy and very conservative girl”, Bridger will pose topless in the launch edition of Playboy SA which hits shelves this Friday, 18 March. And if “Miss April” gets chosen as the playmate of the year, she will get to meet Hugh Hefner. "If I were to meet Hefner, I would ask him what made him start Playboy, and it would be interesting to know how he came up with the concept of the bunny costumes." Yes, here at Channel24 we're sure he’s never heard that question before.

Bridger is only the first of many bunnies to come. Every month Playboy will feature a new SA Playmate alongside the international ‘bunny’.  Peter Piegl, the editor of Playboy SA, guarantee us that women are not chosen based on the size of their bust. (But rather on their sparkling personalities, right Peter?)

Playboy SA will also feature a local celeb on their cover. They are not telling who yet. According to those in the know the mystery cover will be unveiled later this week at the launch party. Our guess? Yo-landi Visser! If our local zef-rapper from Die Antwoord has enough guts to pull down her pants on stage, she surely has enough guts to pose for Playboy. She has also posed semi-naked for Sondag's page 3 spread. Maybe this time she will go all the way for Playboy.

PS: Have you seen her latest music video, Rich Bitch?

Talking about Playmate celebrities… Did you know Drew Barrymore and Kim Kardashian posed for Playboy?

Here’s hoping that the local version will keep up the same high journalistic standards as its international counterpart.
