Tsholofelo Matshaba is a fan-favourite on The Throne, and perhaps the most intriguing part about her role as the evil Odirile is how it couldn’t be further from who Tsholofelo is as a person.

Tsholo was dancing on set for a recent DStv photoshoot. She was there with a number of well-known and emerging personalities, including model and activist Thando Hopa, South Africa’s first black female fighter pilot Major Mandisa Mfeka and fellow actress Lorcia Cooper.

She was asked to choose a word that she thinks best defines her, in honour of Women’s Month.

“My word is ‘Anchor’,” said Tsholo. “And I chose that word as a metaphor for a ship. The anchor needs to be down for the ship to be stable.”

“In the industry we are in, it’s quite harsh because you are judged from the minute you walk in. When you know who you are, you will be able to identify what it is that you like, what you do not like. What your strengths are and what your weaknesses are. And when you’ve got that covered, anything else that comes your way - you have a fighting chance of dealing with it.”

Here’s some more behind-the-scenes footage of her in the DStv #WomenAre campaign.
