Who are the Rich Kids of SA?

2017-09-01 06:00

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a member of South Africa’s young, hot elite? Well, look no further, because we’re about to introduce you to our very own version of Bad and Boujee.

In a South African first, Vuzu Amp took us on a journey into the lives of Mzansi’s very own rich kids – a group of teens and twenty-somethings who truly live out the phrase #NiceLifeProblems - in the form of the reality series Rich Kids, which is now on Showmax for you to binge on. Over the space of two seasons, these younglings splash out on their lavish lifestyles, from designer shoes to R1-million watches and everything in between. They give us some serious chest pains and chronic FOMO. But who are these icons of affluence and why are they so popular? Allow us to break it down for you!

Nape Phasha

Nape was the first person to feature on the show and goodness, did he make an impression! A graduate of Political Science, Nape has brains to match his designer sneakers. Despite bragging about asking his parents for a Rolex worth a million rand, Nape has gone on to do bigger things since his appearance, starting up and co-managing Cutthroat Entertainment, a rising record label that has the likes of Frank Casino on its books.

Olivia Cloud

Olivia is not just your average rich kid. Immensely talented, she was one of the youngest contestants to make it to the Top 16 stage of Idols SA when she auditioned at the age of 16 and went on to try a further two times before catching the eye of Da L.E.S in 2014. She has since gone on to release her debut single Shake, featuring the North God, while making cameo appearances in several of his music videos.

Bob and Don Manonga

These brothers gave many a sense of envy when they appeared on Rich Kids SA, showing off their 14-bedroom mansion while making sure to make mention of their family’s four Bentleys and four Ferraris. Bob has since celebrated his 21st birthday, some of which was aired on the show. Don is still, unfortunately, MIA.

Lauren Campbell

Known to most online as Fashionista CT, Lauren is a Cape Town blogger who is truly living her best life. She has amassed a massive following, with 54.3K followers lusting after her amazing fashion sense and great eye for fine outfits. With her love for designer shades and sexy shoes, we see no signs of Lauren slowing down anytime soon.

Louis Jr Tshakoane

One of Mzansi’s youngest rumoured millionaires, Louis has seen his fair share of controversy, with claims that he was running a forex scam at one stage. A social entrepreneur, Louis claims to have been gifted training equipment worth $200 000 from Sir Richard Branson when he was 16. He then went on to start up Undercover Millionaires International, an exclusive business network and luxury brand. Whatever the case is, Louis stays balling!
