Based on the novel by Jay Asher the series follows Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), a 17-year-old girl who, after committing suicide, explained why she decided to take her life posthumously in the form of 13, 90s-style cassette tapes.

Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of Hannah's death and the start of the characters' complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Liberty High prepares to go on trial, but someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth surrounding Hannah's death concealed.

Season 3 which will be released on the streaming service on 23 August takes place eight months after the events of season 2 and will focus on the death of Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice).

According to Entertainment Weekly, "The stakes are raised in this riveting third season of 13 Reasons Why, as the consequences of even the most well-intended actions can alter a life forever."
