7 things not to do when you audition for Idols SA this weekend

Cape Town – It’s that time of the year when amateur singers compete for their five seconds of fame to become South Africa’s next Idol!

Yes folk, it’s Idols SA time again.

Idols is in its 11th season and we’ve pretty much heard it all and seen it all.

With auditions kicking off this weekend, we thought we’d post this important public service announcement.

Here are our 7 tips on what not to do when you’re auditioning.

1. Forget the lyrics of a song.

2. Sing an original song.

3. Sing a popular song and add too much of your own flavour to it.

4. Flirt with the judges.

5. Do something other than sing.

6. Take an instrument with you if you can't play it.

7. Audition every single season until you’re too old to enter and they eventually have to remove you from the building.

Here are the dates and venues for the auditions:

Saturday 31 January – Pretoria: State Theatre
Saturday 7 February – Cape Town: GrandWest Casino & Entertainment World
Saturday 21 February – Durban: Playhouse Theatre
Saturday 1 March – Johannesburg: Carnival City
