Cape Town - The Laan’s stars chat about their most beautiful Christmas memories.

“My most memorable Christmas was when we still lived in Windhoek. We didn’t even have a Christmas tree. My mom went to the river to get us an acacia tree. She then brought us some dry branches and our family decorated it. Me, my mother and my one sister. My oldest sister and brother were still in Walvis Bay. The Christmas spirit was so strong in our house, and it wasn’t about a Christmas tree but about the occasion,” says DJ Mouton, who plays the role of Justin Booysen.

His co-star Andre Lotter, who plays the role of Rikus Welman, says: “Christmas is and was always one of the best times of the year for me. The warm jolly feeling that goes with it and that exciting feeling of the New Year laying ahead. Each Christmas so far was amazing for me, but me and my wife, Madeleine’s, first Christmas as a newly married couple was, for me, the most memorable. The fact that I’d found my soul mate and that in the future there’d be a little family, just made the Christmas of 2015 the best one for me.

Annelisa Weiland, better known as Hilda de Kock, says that her first “White Christmas” with her father’s family in Germany is one of her favourite Christmas memories. “It was just after I’d matriculated.”

Matrone, or Netta Nortje, played by Annelize van der Ryst, says that she spent Christmas Day in 2004 in Paris, France. “It was a wonderful, sunny winter’s day and we had Christmas dinner at a little bistro in MontMartre. Unforgettable!”

Singer and actor, Hennie Jacobs, who plays the role Diederick, says every single Christmas with his family is special. “Each Christmas since I’ve had a family of my own has been special. One that stands out was one Christmas we enjoyed with the children about two years ago in Sinkwazi, with my in-laws.

“Marissa’s youngest brother was Father Christmas and the children were totally in their element. To see them bubbling over with excitement laid a foundation for many more unforgettable Christmas’s together which will all be incredibly special.”
