2. Ray Donovan S6 (Showmax)

Fixer to LA’s most powerful, Ray Donovan’s actions have caught up with him, sending him to New York where he’s attempting to rebuild his shattered life. How did he get here? Binge-watch Seasons 1 to 5 on Showmax to recap.

3. Strike Back S6 (Showmax)

The covert special-ops soldiers of the revived Section 20 uncover a conspiracy that threatens to push the world to the brink of global conflict. Seasons 1 to 5 are also on Showmax.

4. Alone Together S2 (Showmax)

These two misfits are friends with zero benefits. Ester wants to be a comedian, while Ben is a rich kid with shifting ambitions. As they muddle along together in LA, are they each other’s biggest cheerleaders or worst enemies? Seasons 1 and 2 of this quirky buddy comedy are only on Showmax.

5. Crashing S3 (Showmax)

After catching his wife cheating, aspiring stand-up comedian Pete’s life is flipped upside down. Now homeless, he “crashes” on the couches of various funny people who help him go after his goal of telling jokes for a living. Catch up on Seasons 1 and 2 on Showmax before starting Season 3.

6. Escape at Dannemora (DStv Now)

In upstate New York in 2015, two convicted murderers, who had managed to capture the affections of a prison employee called Tilly Mitchell, escaped from the maximum security prison where they were being held. In this miniseries, Patricia Arquette plays Tilly, and she won a Critics Choice Award for her performance. A chilling must-watch for true-crime fans.

7. Stan Against Evil S1 (DStv Now)

You may recognise John C McGinley from Scrubs; this time he's cleaning up his quiet New Hampshire town, which is being overrun by demons in this comedy-horror series. Former sheriff Stan Miller must team up with his replacement Evie Barret to do battle with the horde of ghouls that go bump in the night.

8. Flowers (Netflix)

This year’s Oscars darling Olivia Colman plays Deborah Flowers, a mother who's trying and failing to keep her eccentric family from falling apart. Her husband, Maurice, is miserable, her children hate each other, and her mother-in-law is losing her marbles. The cult favourite handles the darkest topics known to man - death, divorce, depression, dementia - with humour and heart.
