A team of swimmers from developing nations try to qualify for the Olympic Games. This stunning movie follows them as they push for glory against all odds.

4. HBO’s Southern Rites (Showmax)

In a town where racial segregation still lives in the hearts of its residents, a shocking murder forces everyone to consider where they stand in this divisive debate.

5. The Fatwa - Salman’s Story (DStv Now)

In 1989, the Ayatollah Khomeini condemned British author Salman Rushdie to death. Rushdie had to spend the next decade in hiding, and this documentary tells the inside story of how Rushdie coped with living for 10 years with a death threat hanging over his head. The controversial Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh moved his ashram to Oregon, USA, in the early 80s. 9. American Dope: Acid Dreams (Amazon Prime)

Where does the United States’ drug epidemic and its government intersect? This documentary series attempts to answer that question, starting with the CIA’s introduction of LSD into the States back in the 1950s.
