'90 Day Fiancé' to have first same-sex couple in new season

Cape Town - The TLC reality show, 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days is breaking new ground with its first same-sex couple.

On Wednesday the network released the contestants for the upcoming fourth season of the popular show set to air in the US in February.

In January the network renewed the entire slate of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise which include 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, 90 Day Fiancé: What Now?

The original show follow couples who take a chance on love and bring their potential spouses-to-be stateside. Using a special K-1 visa, the couples are required to get married at the end of only 90 days – or else be forced to return to their home countries.

90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days follows Americans who believe they’ve met the love of their lives, through various methods including international dating websites and apps. These stories begin before the K-1 Visa process – from meeting in person for the first time, to travelling to a foreign country.

Stephanie, 29 is a social media influencer from New York and Erika, 24 is a photographer from Australia. The pair have been in an online relationship for the past three months. However, Erika has kept her sexual orientation from her family.

From the looks of it, there is some drama ahead for the pair.

"Stephanie is unsure how to break the news to her parents that she will be travelling to Australia to meet a woman she loves. To further complicate the situation, she has a rare bone marrow disorder that requires clearance from her doctors to travel, as well as several medications to keep her stable. Stephanie is risking her health to meet the woman of her dreams, but is Erika only in love with her online persona or with the real Stephanie?" reads a press release from the network.

Ed, 54 and Rosemarie, 23, Geoffrey, 41 and Varya, 30, Lisa, 52 and Usman "SojaBoy," 30, David, 60 and Lana, 27, and Darcy and Tom are back for another season.
