New York - Mariah Carey has hired extra security after accusing her fellow American Idol judge Nicki Minaj of threatening to shoot her.
Carey reported the threat to Barbara Walters in a conversation reported on ABC's The View on Thursday morning, giving new details of Tuesday's blowup between Carey and Minaj.
Minaj wasted no time responding with a string of Twitter postings, saying no camera or microphone caught any gun comment but people would believe it "because she's a black rapper."
Rumours of drama between Minaj and Carey began to swirl as soon as the new panel was announced last month. The new season premieres in the US in January.
