Cape Town – The first season of the Australian reality TV show I’m a Celebrity .. Get me out of Here is currently being filmed in South Africa at Swadini, a Forever Resort near Hoedspruit.

Celebrities leave their glamorous lives behind to rough it in the wild to compete for $100 000 for their chosen charity.

During the show they will live together in a constructed site and compete in challenges for food and luxuries. Each week a contestant gets voted out by the public.

According to Chris Christo Wagenaar , Marketing Director Of Forever Resorts some structure have been erected for the series.

Bomas and a studio area were built at the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MPTA) offices en route to the Blyde Dam. These mostly consist of mobile units which will be removed after the shoot.

100 tents were erected in the caravan park to accommodate the crew. On completion of filming this will be moved to another Forever Properties holding.

There have been concerns about filming and its impact on the environment and the reserve.

Wagenaar says that filming has been done under the guardianship of the MPTA to ensure that there is no permanent impact on the environment.

The series is currently being broadcasted live from Channel10 in Australia on Sundays through to Thursday.

Filming is expected to be completed around 15 March.

Crews and contestants will leave the area while the operations team will remain to clean up until the end of March.
