DStv unlocks channels

Cape Town – MultiChoice is unlocking a selection of pay-TV channels usually only reserved for DStv Premium subscribers from Friday until Monday.

The satellite pay-TV operator didn’t issue a press statement but DStv subscribers were told that they will be able to get access to channels ranging from History and Sky News to FOX, BBC Entertainment, Comedy Central, Discovery and several SuperSport channels.

MultiChoice is allowing subscribers of the DStv Access, DStv Compact, DStv Family, DStv Compact Plus, DStv Mobile and DStv Extra bouquets access to the additional channels.

SuperSport 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, Discovery Channel, BBC Knowledge, Comedy Central, AfricaMagic Entertainment, Crime & and Investigation Network, Trace Sports Stars, Animal Planet, History Channel, CBeebies, Sky News, Big Brother on channel 197, Big Brother on channel 198, FOX and MTV Base will be available to all subscribers from Friday, 19 July at 16:00 to Monday, 21 July at 10:00.

      We pay for real nonsense on DStv. Rubbish in fact. Most of our programmes are about 10 years old or at least at the minimum mostly outdated and boring. 10% worthwhile 90% rubbish. If you don't take out the premium package @ R625 pm as well, A LOT TO PAY PER MONTH for any household, you may as well just have SABC TV or rent a movie from your local video store. What is their income p/m ? enormous ! This is true monopoly and no competition. I don't watch this rubbish but we have no alternative option in SA if ones wants something for ones family. Allow competition please ICASA and even support it !

    So me, as a premium subscriber, get nothing free? In fact, 3 of my channels don't work. And i get told it is not DSTV's problem, i need to spend more money taking the decoder in to be checked, seeing as DSTV customer care don't know jack, and don't help. No wonder they recommend self-service... they know mos that their people are incompetent.

      I have the same problem! The call centre its not DSTV's problem and I must have my decoder checked. Don't we spend enough as it is!!!

      I have exactly the same problem, so I did a rescan, now I don't get MNET or any of the movie channels. It is so frustrating. All they said to me is "you have to bring the decoder in". Apparently with all of their Signal Upgrades, certain decoders software needs a 'flash reset'. How short-sighted are these people? Their call centre services is terrible, the guy had no idea what I was talking about. Tired of them

      To all complaining premium subscribers on this forum... if you are stupid enough to pay for the Multirepeat (registered name Multichoice) service, don't complain man. By now you should have seen all those repeats already. Rather, get off your ass and take the dogs for a walk on the beach. If you live in Gauteng, remember to carry a gun as well. Or do some other real stuff

      If you have the dual aerial for the pvr. Check the aerial connections going into the Decoder. Check that the wire has not been pulled out of the connection a bit. I had the same thing 3 weeks ago and the Good lady at Multi choice in Goodwood tested my decoder and the wires were the problem

    DSTV, do you have a package for, and how much will it cost: All Supersport, BBC Knowledge, Discovery, Animal Planet, History Channel, CBeebies and Disney Junior? News I'll get from E-TV thanks. Anyway, these are the only channels we watch in our house and I think it is unfair billing me every month for e.g. African channels (i don't understand), repeats, reality channels, extra music channels, old movies I've seen before.

    Dstv should bring out a new bouquet namely Dstv Freedom....where you can choose your own channels and pay for them accordingly,instead of paying for channels you don't even watch....

    Why dont they up their service on the premium...like no repeats. Gosh how many times have we got to suffer repeats on Two and half men, House, Law and Order, they just finish a run and it starts from the beginning again, repeats repeats repeats. Premium subscribers should not be subject to repeats, once the series is finished we dont see it EVER again. Same with the movie channel, how old are some of those movies, get with the times.

    Why are the BBC channels so full of repeats? Not much has changed on these channels in the last few years. Instead we get local stuff which is generally so inferior.

    If you are not able to watch all the channels in the bouquet you are paying for, you have a faulty or partially faulty installation!
