Daniel Craig to host Saturday Night Live

New York - Daniel Craig is set to host the popular sketch show Saturday Night Live.

The James Bond actor has been announced as one of the guest presenters for the forthcoming 38 th season of the hit show. Craig will star on the episode that will premiere on October 6, with rockers Muse joining him as musical guest.

Other guest presenters that has been announced for the upcoming season include Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane and actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Seth will host the premiere taking place on 15 September in the US, while Joseph will take on presenting duties for the following week.

The show airing in the US on 22 September will see Mumford & Sons make their debut on the comedy program.

Regular cast members not returning

The popular show will be in for some changes when the new series starts, as it is expected a number of regular cast members, including Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis and Andy Samberg, will not be returning.

Although nothing has been confirmed, a number of apparent references to the Bridesmaids star's departure were made during the series 37 finale.

The final sketch during the season finale saw the actress who has been a cast member on the show for seven years, don a cap and gown with guest host Sir Mick Jagger acting as high school principal during a graduation scene.

Kristen's character was singled out as "one particular student who is leaving this summer", and she then danced with the Rolling Stones rocker, executive producer Lorne Michaels and other cast members to the group's hit She's a Rainbow.
