Gareth Cliff lends voice for Disney show

Cape Town - 5FM DJ and Idols SA judge Gareth Cliff will join other celebrities such as David Beckham, Selena Gomez, Ben Stiller and Michael J Fox as stars to have voiced a character on the hit Disney show Phineas and Ferb.

Gareth has been cast as Ducky Mo-Mo, a travelling salesman, in an episode which is set to air locally on Disney XD (DStv channel 304).

After posting an announcement on his blog on Saturday morning, Gareth told Sowetan Live that he was approached by Disney in November last year to voice the character for the popular kids show, and recordings took place in January.

"I was amazed at how many high-profile stars were involved, from Jonathan Ross to David Beckham, and I thought, well, if they want me, then yeah," said Gareth about his involvement.

'A first for me'

"I really enjoy Phineas and Ferb, so I am thrilled to be part of such an iconic series. Doing a voice-over cameo is a first for me, so I jumped at the challenge! It's a show that both adults and kids of all ages can enjoy together and I can't wait for everyone to see my episode."

He also revealed that he shares some traits with his character on the show - them both being sarcastic and annoying - but reckons it was a great character to portray.

The premiere of Tri-State Treasures: Boots of Secrets will air locally on Saturday 16 March at 09:45 on Disney XD.
