Johannesburg - Dave van Vuuren is your new Idol.
The 21-year-old from Johannesburg clinched the title after a 90-minute Idols finale at the Mosaïek Teatro in Fairlands on Tuesday.
Van Vuuren, who received 50.49% of the public vote, beat out 29-year-old Mark Haze from Cape Town. M-Net said in a press release that this is the smallest voting margin in SA Idols history.

M-Net channel head Pierre Cloete assured the media at the press conference that the votes were checked and rechecked numerous times, specifically because of how small the difference was between votes for each finalist.
Van Vuuren thanked South Africa for the support, saying: "I can't wait to show you music from the soul."
