Idols SA: Musa talks about his idol!

Johannesburg – For the Idols SA judges it was deja vu when Musa Mashiane stepped into the audition room in Pretoria.

Upon receiving his golden ticket there was a chance that another Musa could take the Idols SA title this year.

His dream was cut short this week however when he was dramatically eliminated from the competition.

We spoke to Musa about his love for music, his Idols experience and that one song he wishes he got to perform.

Channel24:
What went through your mind when you heard you got the least votes?

Musa:
It was just one of those things you know. I was chilled as I was expecting anything. I’m at peace with it you can't control what happens in your life.

Channel24:
What song or artist made you want to be a singer?

Musa:
Bobby McFerrin! I was in grade seven or eight and I heard the song, Don’t worry be Happy. From then on I knew I wanted to sing and I decided to take it further.

Channel24:
What has been your most memorable moment on the show?

Musa:
My most memorable moment on the show was my audition in Pretoria where I got my golden ticket. That was one of the best moments for me. And meeting Gordon Chambers when he was a mentor. He is an amazing, cool guy!

Channel24:
What's one song you would have loved to perform on Idols that you didn't get to?

Musa:
It’s one of the songs I prepared for last night, Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton. I had never performed a ballad before. I was going to show SA a different side of me and I prepared to really nail my performance. But then I was cut and I never got to sing the song.

Channel24:
If you could duet with anyone living or dead, who would you pick?

Musa:
It would definitely be Bobby McFerrin! In my opinion he is one of the best vocalists. The song I would like to sing with him is Bang Zoom.
