2012-09-26 07:47
Cape Town – Monde Msutwana from Witbank has been voted off Idols SA season 8, leaving Khaya Mthethwa and Melissa Allison to compete for the ultimate title in the Idols finale.

Port Elizabeth's Melissa, 23, was the first contestant to be sent to the safe zone on Tuesday night leaving Khaya and Monde wondering which of them will be joining Melissa in the finale.

30-year-old Monde received the least amount of votes and performed his new single on stage.

Melissa and Durban's Khaya also recorded their very own singles this past week and the music videos for the singles will be revealed soon.

Voting for the finale is open and will close on Monday, 1 October, at 22:00.

Tickets for the finale are available from Computicket.

Watch the Top 2 perform in the Idols finale on M-Net and Mzansi Magic this Sunday, 30 September at 17:30.

khaya is in it to win it that's for sure.

  • Louise Whittingstall Barnard - 2012-09-26 08:12

If Melissa wins, what will they do then? Make ALL the contestants Black next time round, Just to be sure?

      BadplaasGolfClub - 2012-09-26 08:34

Garreth Cliff would be shattered - Melissa would be the winner!

      peter.ndamase - 2012-09-26 08:39

If she wins, black people should withdraw from the show!!! Talent is often overturned by financial muscles! Khaya must win it!!!

      sbu.ngwane.58 - 2012-09-26 09:39

      Really? You wanna go there?

      lynnmoore1234 - 2012-09-26 10:37

Do what they did with Big Brother and make it `Idols Afrika'.... lol Then they can be sure of who will win...

      francie.potgieter - 2012-09-26 12:47

Shes not going to win even if she did. Remember what happened with the Shasha and Jason the same is going to happen here. And they wont reveal the % of votes to each contestant got so you will never know. Biggest rigged show ever this year.

  • quentin.smit.127 - 2012-09-26 08:43

Now, who would've ever imagined that Khaya would be in the final 2 ?? It was always just a case of who was going to make it to be the unlucky loser.

Honestly, this SA Idols season has been a dissapointment, so much so that I haven't bothered watching it at all!

      Erna - 2012-09-26 10:31

Agree totally - watched last night - how do we make it so boring?

      jordache.ramjith - 2012-09-26 22:42

Luzuko, I don't think it has anything to do with race. This honestly was the most dull and boring season of idols ever!

  • freddie.miff - 2012-09-26 09:26

I have not watched a single episode of this series, for the first time ever. I doubt I will bother with future one's either.

  • juanita.r.jacobs - 2012-09-26 09:52

I agree with Bretton and Freddie, this Idols season is just not worth the time of watching's so "in your face political" that its actually a laugh!!! I haven't watched more than 10mins of 1 show to know that even Sky News is more worth watching!! And the talent...well thank goodness the rest of the world doesn't get to watch our SA Idols! Bad luck MNet, you brought this on yourself!

Only reason I watch Idols is because Melissa is hot...

      michael.mcsundowns - 2012-09-26 11:11

Looks like we?? you and who?? FYI Idols SA was copied elsewhere. I dont understand what you mean when you say you have to "start" something only for "them" to destroy it too. Start what exactly? "You" started idols? Please, dont make me laugh. You have a chip on your shoulder. Get over yourself!

      thandi.kapwata - 2012-09-26 12:19

Are you in some bizarre way trying to say that black people destroy things white people create??? we don't need such divisive attitudes in this country.

      JohncarlosBiza - 2012-09-26 12:38

Why is my country cursed with such retarded species?!

  • christina.setloboko - 2012-09-26 11:29

    let the best Idol win...

  • gbashele - 2012-09-26 12:05

The prejudice of many of our white patriots on this page is so overwhelming. A classic case of "white flight". Whenever black people move in, the standards "must have dropped" and the whites must move away from "these people". We can see this phenomenon everywhere - schools, suburbs, shops...even churches. Now Idols. It's no wonder Apartheid lasted for so long - white priviledge must be protected at all cost. Protect it against die "Swart Gevaar". Pity!!

      quentin.smit.127 - 2012-09-26 12:22

it's not about standards that have dropped - it's that it looks like a winner was chosen long ago and the show appears to only be going through the motions to get to the final show. Out of interest, did the judges use their 'save' up to now? If not, does it seem plausable that they never felt that a single entrant was worth saving? Were they not maybe just keeping in case there was a stuff-up somewhere and a Khaya ended up in the elimination seat? Personallly, I don't care who wins as long as it's on merrit.

      gavisto - 2012-09-26 12:35

White people should shut up and vote...they are judged on votes and many whites are too dumb to understand that..the fact is whites aren't good singers, look at how many win the SAMAS or the metro awards? Few if any..have we ever had a best selling white artist? NO..and steve hofmeyer music canot be classified as music - 2012-09-26 12:42

To quentin: Noone was worth saving. I was sad about Chloe though. That was two weeks too early. Her song choice was also very bad. They could have chosen a much better top 30 though.

      mike.dufham.7 - 2012-09-26 15:00

At all of you that with your anti-white sentiments. If they have another season of this cr@p, it must be broadcast on SABC 1, 2 or 3 where it belongs with the other cr@p that SABC broadcasts

      gbashele - 2012-09-26 17:50

@mike.dufham.7. YOu are proving right exactly what I was saying. So you are saying SABC is for blacks and MNET is supposedely for whites (i.e. Slegs Blankes). A large portion of the Afrikaans community would be highly dissappointed with your statement as you are implying that their favourie programming on SABC 2 is inferior just because it's on SABC. Pity.

  • gbashele - 2012-09-26 12:07

Can it be perhaps that the "dropped standards" is as a result of difference in tastes of music. I dislike rock music (primarily done by white people in RSA), so naturally I will have a bias against rock. Last year, the quality of singing was compromised for showmanship, the final 2 (Dave and Mark) were by far not the best vocally, but trumped all the others for showmanship and popularity. Musically and vocally Crushanda and Freddie Fandango were ahead of the final 2. However, no one said the standards had dropped. Tshidi and Shekinah (surprisingly) could not even make the final 16 – go figure.

  • - 2012-09-26 12:37

Hope they sing current and decent songs. My money is on Melissa. She just has the full package and are much more mature. I am also glad for Khaya and still think that he will make it big like Lloyd.

  • yvonne.c.martin.71 - 2012-09-26 13:05

Khaya is awesome!! I hope he wins!! Vote people !!!!

  • jumien.peceur - 2012-09-26 14:19

People, who wins is up to us. Who is the most talented between Khaya and Melissa? Who can become an artist whose CD you as voter or viewer will buy. Melissa is coloured and so am I, but FYI she should not have been in the top ten, Maryka should have. I dont think anyone votes based on the race of the person. The most popular persons wins. AMEN

      gbashele - 2012-09-26 17:53

I felt really sorry for Maryke. She was definately top 3 material.

  • grant.logan.94 - 2012-09-26 14:37

Why are people so racist? Why does skin colour matter? This is a talent contest, not who is the fairest of them all. At least this year unlike last time around with Dave, this year we will see someone emerge with some proper vocal skills. Is it so hard to believe that a black person could win idols without it being rigged?

  • heizenschneizen - 2012-09-26 18:18

Kinda funny seeing all this back and forth about race issues. How about you stop blah blah blah about this and go vote for the one you think deserves it. It is a talent show after all.

  • jordache.ramjith - 2012-09-26 22:52

For everyone in this country who allows race to be an issue in such a trivial competition, read this article.

  • johnvkaraoke - 2012-09-27 05:43

at last talent from port elizabeth has made it to the finals. maybe the judges will think twice about giving pe such a bad name. well done melissa you made your mom proud

  • michael.vermeulen1 - 2012-09-27 08:38

And,......What does ex judge Mara say and feel?

  • lefnkompela - 2012-09-27 10:55

Once again it was all good and well when whites won this previously now that a black person has a very good chance of winning thy cry foul.....(SMH) If it was so borring why do you stil bother watching???????? dom dom dom

  • becky.jamieson1 - 2012-09-27 12:08

What the hell???? Compared to Monde and Khaya, Melissa has NO talent. Come on SA!!! Dont vote for her because she has a nice body and a pretty face!! Vote for the talent!!KHAYA MUST WIN!!!
