Joelle Kayembe to remain face of Trace TV

Cape Town - Joelle Kayembe has been chosen to stay on as Trace TV's ambassador for another year, reports Sowetan Live.

Joelle, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and raised in South Africa, who was selected by the music-based television channel as an ambassador back in 2012, has been seen on various television shows in SA including Deal or No Deal and Tropica Island of Treasure.

One of her most recent television appearances include a role on Darrell Roodt's sci-fi drama Room 9.

Speaking to Sowetan Live, Kayembe said she must have accomplished something if the management team has decided to extend her contract as ambassador.

'Personifies Trace's strong values'

"I have learnt a lot as the face of the channel and hope to keep living the brand," she said.

Trace TV's CEO and chairman, Oliver Laouchez, also affirmed that Kayembe has proved herself worthy of being the ambassador for the channel.

"In one year Kayembe has not changed and she personifies Trace's strong values, which are generosity, openness, multiculturalism and credibility. She is now busy preparing the actions of Trace Foundation in South Africa," Laouchez told Sowetan Live.

'Given an opportunity'

Kayembe also recently wrapped up shooting the thriller Zulu, which was filmed in South Africa and stars Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker. Currently, she is filming an international movie with a Lebanese director.

When asked about her launching a career in acting, Kayembe told Sowetan Live that the opportunity presented itself to her and she wanted to try it out.

"I am pursuing acting because I was given an opportunity to try it. Just like modelling. Look where I am today because of my modelling career."
