Cape Town - Pay-TV operator M-Net has pulled the plug on Mzansi Magic's entertainment news show Headline, reports Sowetan Live.
With the dynamic duo of Kuli Roberts and Trevor Gumbi as presenters, Headline kept audiences in the loop about the happenings of Hollywood and the entertainment industry, for nearly six seasons.
According to M-Net's head of communications, Lani Lombard, the decision to cancel the show came about in an effort to bring new and fresher content to the channel's line-up.
"Mzansi Magic is currently changing its line-up to create a general entertainment channel that will entice even more people to enjoy our unique local content offering. As a result, we have decided not to commission Headline for a seventh season," Lombard said.
New futures ahead
She also said that no bridges with Trevor and Kuli will be burned and they "hope to work with them on new concepts in the future".
Speaking to Sowetan Live, Gumbi said that he will now be focusing on producing some of his own television shows and his career as a compère and comedian.
On Twitter, Roberts thanked fans for their support after the news broke. She has not yet revealed any plans for her future once the show's run is over.
* The final episode of Headline will be aired on Thursday, 4 April on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 21:00.
