Johannesburg - Deena Naidoo is a sentimental chef.

The winner of MasterChef SA told Channel24 that his daughter has been his inspiration when it comes to thinking about names for his new restaurant.

The 45-year-old IT specialist - who told journalists on Tuesday that he is yet to resign from his IT job - wishes to name his restaurant Aarya, after his 10-year-old daughter.

"It's also a courteous way to address a woman in sanskrit, like "madame" in English," said the winning chef.

Naidoo was presented with R8m worth of prizes at a ceremony held at the MondoVino Restaurant at the Sun Square Hotel at Montecasino on Tuesday, after he was announced the winner of M-Net's reality cooking show.

His prizes include the opportunity to redesign and run the MondoVino restaurant in association with Tsogo Sun management for two years.

Naidoo's restaurant is set to open in November this year.

What happens after the 2 years? He has to relocate his entire life to Jhb and then after 2 years....

Yeah, I also thought WTF is this kind of prize and then it has to be run in partnership with Tsogo Sun who's idea would be use his name to maximise their profit and after 2 years he is gone........ I'm sure his wife will not let him make funny decisions that is not in the interest of the family.

i think he will have a choice of remaining there but then he foots the monthly rental bill.

Deena just knew you were going to be the winner of Master Chef SA. When you baked that awesome cake knowing you were not a baker. Your attention to detail and the manner in which you savour the food spoke volumes to me. You deserved to win. Well done and may you go from strength to strength. Will see you at your restaurant.
