Cape Town - Comedy Central Africa has revealed more names of celebs who will make up the 'roasting' panel for The Comedy Central Roast of Steve Hofmeyr.
Comedy Central is stoking up the fires as the channel reveals further fiery roasters for the first "Roast" to take place in Africa.
Among the celebs to be sharpening up their claws and polishing off their most blistering remarks will be Highveld radio DJ Anele Mdoda, comic, actor and director David Kau, Sports Illustrated model and former Pasella presenter Minki Van Der Westhuizen, Isidingo's Robert Whitehead and renowned TV and movie actress Shaleen Surtie-Richards.
"We are delighted to welcome Anele, David, Minki, Robert and Shaleen on board. It looks like Steve could be in for a real roasting," said Evert van der Veer, head of Comedy Central Africa.
The roasters will join roastee Steve Hofmeyr, roastmaster Trevor Noah and previously announced roasters Casper de Vries, John Vlismas and Kuli Roberts on stage at the Lyric Theatre Gold Reef City, Johannesburg for the unique comedy event.
'I've always wanted a piece of his wors...'
Commenting on her involvement in the roast, Shaleen Surtie-Richards said: "Me, roast Steve Hofmeyr? No man, I'm going to braai him! I've always wanted a piece of his wors…"
In a personal tribute to the roastee, Robert Whitehead commented: "Some people say Steve is a lazy, talentless, sexist, racist Neil Diamond wannabe. I beg to differ. He's definitely not lazy."
Van der Veer said that Steve Hofmeyr is going to have to pull out all the stops to get the better of this red-hot roasting panel.
The Comedy Central Roast of Steve Hofmeyr is scheduled to take place on 11 September in Johannesburg in front of a live audience and will be broadcast on Comedy Central (DStv channel 122) on Monday 24 September at 21:00.
